It clearly deserves its own forum and if I missed it, perhaps a mod can move this post over to there. coming from a company that primarily produces trikes. BTW, any idea of the Catrike bags fitting on the Musashi? I'm talking of the triangular shaped pair?ĭavid, I looked for a Catbike subdivision but saw only French, German, Favorite trails etc. I'm trying to look at the Catbike as both a fast bike platform and a century/touring bike. The sock may add to overall speed but would feel a bit restrictive to me. I suspect the fairing's aero benefit is probably neutralized by the weight penalty but it does look comfortable for cold days. I saw a picture of a faired and socked Catbike on RBR's website. of the pad/chains when you have your bike built however I am also looking at the possibility of a fairing. As far as weight, do you have to use chaintubes to protect the frame? I am interested in what you find out as far the wt. The catbike's seat though looks to be quite a bit wider than the pad but if it's comfortable, it's worth it. TRSNTR, I figure there's no way to avoid oversized charges do you have any recommendations on Crateworks vs. Now, I am convinced that a small sized Musashi bent can be "slimmed" down by ~3lbs to about 23lbs by spending another ~$1800 over the stock Musashi's configuration. The S&S coupled suitcase packable tandems proved the most practical option for those. If they obliged, I will post those numbers in this forum. The PRO Bike Travel Case features a reinforced frame to provide a sturdy, protective, travel case for your bike. So another additional lb of weight can indeed be shed at the cost of about $700-$800. The Rsys wheel is about ~$375 new on ebay. $150 investment (main benefit is it does not trap rain droplets and it vents sweat in the Summer) for x? grams of weight savingģ- If the spec listed on weight weenie is correct, the rear wheel build by bentup shop is about 250grams heavier than a relatively affordable carbon spoke Mavic RSys 700 rear wheel. I would guess it is a $1-$2 cost per gram of weight saving in the chainĢ- replace the seat pad with the ventisit pad if the stock padded seat is relatively heavy. This is not cheap to save 150-200 grams or so will cost close to $200. I think you can probably shave off another lb by:ġ- replace factory chain with lighter SRAM PC1090/1091 chain or Shimano 7900 chain. On you tube, search for musashi recumbent, you will find a 25lbs validated build. This is probably not a bent built for cheap travel! Also, it can hold any iPhone up to 3.5 broad. You can attach it on bikes with a diameter of 0.9 to 1.25 using the adjustable clamp. Its outstanding adaptability is what gives it worth.
